RESORT DEVELOPMENT 2025-27 SURVEY
A community Resort Development Strategy (RDS) is a requirement of the provincial Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI). The RDS must lead toward the desired outcomes of the RMI program including:
- to extend or diversify the community’s tourism season,
- increase visitation,
- improve the sustainability of their tourism sector,
- and enhance the visitor experience.
A community’s RDS must identify a tourism vision for the community and the activities to help achieve the RMI outcomes.
The City of Revelstoke is looking for ideas from businesses and other organizations to help them develop the RDS for Revelstoke for the term 2025-2027. This survey should take about 10 minutes or more if you are submitting ideas for funding. Thank you for your time and input.
The survey closes today, February 18 at midnight.
2025 IMPACT CONFERENCE.
Kyra and Taniell from Tourism Revelstoke recently attended the IMPACT - Sustainable travel and Tourism Conference in Victoria. We were thrilled to be accompanied by City Councillor, Tim Stapenhurst, and Director of Community Economic Development, Ryan Watmough. These partnerships help support a better understanding of how tourism can be a positive force in our community.
Not only did they attend, Taniell represented Revelstoke by speaking on a panel about regenerative tourism experiences. Chris McCurry, the Destination Development and Sustainability Director for Kootenay Rockies Tourism said
"One of the highlights of the conference for me was to see Taniell Hamilton, Tourism Revelstoke's Destination & Sustainability Manager, on a panel talking about on-the-ground examples of regenerative practices. Many inspirational real examples of regenerative tourism were presented including Revelstoke's very successful event called Thanksgiving Back."

NEW SHORT TERM RENTAL REGISTRY.
The Province is launching a new short-term rental (STR) registry in order to give hosts who are following the rules, the ability to continue to legally operate and welcome guests while further cracking down on speculators who are breaking the rules.
Anyone operating a short-term rental in British Columbia and listing on platforms such as Airbnb, Vrbo and others, will be required to register with the Province, including hosts operating outside areas with the principal-residence requirement.
Once registered, hosts will receive a provincial registration number that must be displayed on all online listings in BC, effective May 1, 2025. Hosts who do not have a provincial registration number will have their listings taken down as of June 1, 2025. Hosts that register by February 28, 2025 will receive a 50% discount on fees or a 25% discount if they register by March 31, 2025.
